Hi. I’m David.
I’m the last to become a part of this family. One thing that never seems to change with us, is that things are always changing. I never know when someone is going to spring some crazy new plan on me. As the youngest, so far I haven’t had a lot of say around here. They pretty much just let me know when it’s time to jump in. But that’s ok. I’ve gotten to do a lot of things that few kids get to do. I also have friends all over the world now, too. And that’s really cool!
Just like during my time on Colonial House, I’ve been home schooled most of my life. Sometimes I wish I could attend regular school but if I did, I probably wouldn’t get to do a lot of the stuff my family has done. I did attend 4th and 5th grade at Texas Christian Academy and really liked it. By the time I’m ready for high school, I hope to go back. For now, I do get together several times a week with other home schooled kids to take certain classes. I’m also a part of a theater group, which I really like. I also love writing and music. I have been writing a book for a couple of years now, and I also compose music. I’d love to write musical scores for movies some day.
I accepted Christ as my savior when I was only 6 years old. I know that is pretty young but I understood what I was doing and I remember feeling that it was very important that I be baptized. At the time, our church was just getting started and we didn’t have a baptistery and the weather was too cold to go out to the lake or river. But I was determined to get baptized anyway. So my mom bought the biggest plastic tub she could find and we put it in our front yard. My dad filled it with warm water and all our friends and family gathered around and witnessed my baptism. It’s a good thing I was still so small or I wouldn’t have fit in the tub. I guess this is just another example of my family being willing to just do “whatever”. I know most people probably wouldn’t have done it this way but to me it was important and I didn’t want to wait.
Today, I’m a part of our youth group at church and I help work the audio and video controls for our services.
